Phil has been surrounded by music and finance throughout his life, having grown up in west end Toronto to a family of Chartered Accountants. Phil attached himself to music at a young age, spending the majority of his time learning many different instruments, and constantly exploring different types of music to expand his knowledge. Graduating Dalhousie University where he majored in Accounting for his Commerce degree, Phil spent his co-op terms working at KPMG. The summer after graduation Phil took an internship with Sony Music Canada, sparking a deep interest in joining the music industry. Shortly after in 2012 he turned down a full time job at KPMG to pursue that interest and was successful in doing so months later, becoming the Financial Controller for Frostbyte Media and eventually co-founding Culvert Music in 2013.
